Stuttering replay - grizzly - 2025-05-09 Hello fellow Tangara users. I am using the Tangara exclusively over Bluetooth with a Bose QC35 headphone. When I turn on the device and it reconnects automatically to the headphone, I often get a stuttering replay. The issue is micro-pauses every few seconds, not regularly timed nor all exactly the same length. I sometimes goes away after a few minutes but most of the time I get annoyed before that and I solve it by disconnecting and reconnecting the headphone multiple times (not sure it is faster but at least I am doing something). I am using the latest firmware v1.3.2, my sdcard is formatted as vfat and all my files are either flac or mp3. I did not notice it being specific to a files so I suspects it is either a card issue or a firmware issue but I do not have any more insight than that. I could try other outputs but the issue is not easily reproducible so it might take some time. Is this a know issue? Is there anything I can do to solve it? What more info can I provide to help figuring it out? Any comment is appreciated Thanks. RE: Stuttering replay - ailurux - 2025-05-09 There's a few known bugs relating to stuttering at the moment. The database indexing can cause stuttering during playback (the database is indexing if you see a 'DB' icon in the top right), and Flac tracks in particular seem to stutter more too. The other thing that can cause it is some SD cards (for reasons we've not figured out yet) are just sometimes very slow to read and will cause stuttering. I have the same headphones and I have used them extensively with my Tangara with no issues, so I am leaning slightly towards this being a case of the Flac stuttering issue (https://codeberg.org/cool-tech-zone/tangara-fw/issues/132) or an issue with the SD card (https://codeberg.org/cool-tech-zone/tangara-fw/issues/159). A few things you can try that might help: - Make sure the database isn't updating whilst playing - Make sure the headphones aren't connected to another device that may cause congestion or prevent playback - Try with another SD card - Make sure any Flac tracks are sampled at 48khz to avoid any issues with resampling - Possibly try convert Flac tracks to another format These issues are being actively investigated so if the above doesn't help, hopefully we have a fix for this soon. There's also a PR that some people have reported helps with the stuttering (https://codeberg.org/cool-tech-zone/tangara-fw/pulls/308) but it seems like it's still a WIP at this stage. Converting the files is easy enough so I'll try that first. Hopefully that solves it until Flac is better supported (but honestly I'm sure I wont be able to tell the difference anyway). |
