podcasts/ using the tangara app for linux - wawtruttle - 2025-09-17 hey i'm running nixos and see that there is a package for tangara player, but when i connect it to the computer while running it doesn't seem to recognize the tangara? additionally i was wondering if i can upload podcasts or even ebooks to the device to listen to? and how i would go about that any help is appreciated thank you for a lovely device! Podcasts: yes. Audiobooks: also yes. eBooks: no. For Tangara to recognise podcasts and audiobooks, they should be placed in a top level directory in the SD card called "Podcasts" or "Audiobooks" (respectively). They can be organised in subfolders under this folder (ie, `Podcasts/ACoolPodcast/ACoolEpisode.mp3`), but it will check the top level to see if it should be treated like a podcast or audiobook, etc. I use gPodder to download podcasts as it handles the metadata as well, I'd highly recommend using it or something similar to automatically tag podcasts correctly. For the Tangara Companion not recognising the device, there could be a few causes. If there's an existing serial connection to the device it may not be able to pick it up, or if USB mass storage is turned on. You'll also want to make sure that the cable you're using isn't a power-only cable (sorry if that seems obvious but you'd be surprised how often it comes up). |
