Thread: Issues with large music library
Post: RE: Issues with large music library

We sorted through the issue tracker late last week, and as far as we're aware the only major outstanding crash bug that seems relevant here is an issue with embedded album art in files that use ogg co...

Post: RE: Building one's own tangara

Ohhh that's very interesting. Maybe the previous cases we've seen had an offset issue rather than a size issue and we just didn't notice? Either way, I'd be very happy to support an offset variance...

It's very doable, and would be cool! Presumably (hopefully?) Codeberg/Forgejo should have a nice API for fetching release artifacts for a repository, right? If so this could be a pretty straightforwar...

    Thread: bluetooth companion protocol?
Post: RE: bluetooth companion protocol?

This would be cool! Could be a very good initial use case for wifi too, actually; depends on the speed of the ESP32's wifi (probably slow-ish?) compared to the speed of our USB storage implementation ...

There is, yes! It's not something I do a lot of, but that's more out of habit than anything else. The ESP-IDF docs have some useful tips on port selection and stuff: https://docs.espressif.com/proj...

Post: RE: Improved SD card compatibility

That does sound like a pretty suspicious kind of failure mode, especially if it's persisting with newer firmware versions. Could be a soldering fault with your display perhaps..? Feel free to email if...

Post: RE: Long-form audiobooks and podcasts

We were mostly holding off on writing better docs until we had more sophisticated support for this kind of content, but time makes fools of us all. The docs are also on codeberg if anyone feels like t...

The specific SD card definitely seems to be a huge factor in these issues AFAICT. Hopefully we can get our hands on some cards with similar performance characteristics soon!

Post: RE: Which batch

There's about 50 batch 1 units still left to ship at the moment! So batch 1 is not quite finished shipping, but it is close.

You can also hold the bottom or top of the wheel to scroll a little faster! We mention most of these on the getting started page, but the long right press isn't mentioned there: https://cooltech.zo...

Post: RE: Faster programming?

Hi! You can pass a `--baud` argument to idf.py flash to flash at much higher speeds than the default. 1000000 is usually pretty reliable, but you can push it to 1500000 or even 2000000 if you don't mi...

Hi! Sorry about this! We don't have a good write-up at the moment, but it'll most likely just be the connector under the display. The display is stuck down, but the adhesive is quite weak. Work slowly...
