Audio stuttering?

Question
Hi all!

My tangara arrived about two weeks ago and so far I've been loving it! The only issue I've been having with it that I haven't been able to find a solution for is unfortunately a bit of a major one, so I was wondering if other people had the same issue. My tangara has pretty hardcore issues with the music stuttering. It does seem to sometimes improve with time if left playing, but it's definitely a pretty consistent issue (I would say it stutters every few seconds). It happens with both bluetooth and wired connections. I also noticed that on a wired connection the music only played out of the left side of my headphones, which is not an issue when using my headphones wired with my computer, for what it's worth, but I'm not super sure if that's of any import here.

Just wanted to check if this was a common/known issue or not and if it's firmware-related or might be a hardware issue?

If it matters at all, my music library is about 34gb and is a mix of .flac and .mp3 files; the stuttering seems to affect both. I've tested this on two bluetooth headsets and wired on one headset. I'm using a Sandisk 128gb SD card. Unfortunately turning off auto-indexing didn't seem to solve the issue, though it's marginally better than the stuttering experienced while it's indexing.

My firmware is as follows:
ESP32: 1.12
SAMD21: 6.0
Collator: Generic

Please let me know if there's a better place for this to go (like the GitHub)! Thank you!

My tangara has pretty hardcore issues with the music stuttering when I first start up a track. It tends to go away after about 30 seconds and is generally fine afterwards (with a couple hiccups), but this is pretty consistent upon startup when playing a song for the first time. It happens with both bluetooth and wired connections. Hi, just to check, does this happen whilst the database is indexing, or at other times. During the database indexing there should be a "DB" indicator at the top right of the screen. We're currently aware of some issues where this indexing causes stuttering on tracks.

The wired output only being the left channel sounds like it could be a hardware issue with your unit. Can you double check the jack is fully inserted? If this happens consistently between wired headphones and you're sure the headphones are plugged in correctly, then the next step would be to reach out to support@cooltech.zone and we can figure out a solution or replacement.

There's also this issue for stuttering when the database is not indexing, which for me was because of a bad SD card: https://codeberg.org/cool-tech-zone/tang...issues/159

Hi there! This does happen while the database is not indexing. However, after turning auto-updating of the database off (and letting it sit for a while), it seems to not be happening anymore while wired, it just occurs on Bluetooth. I'm assuming earlier when I was getting stutters while using it wired was because it was still indexing or something (or I guess somehow recovering from indexing since I tested it after the DB indicator went away?), but after turning off auto-updating of the database and giving it a few hours it seems to have gone away while using it wired, which is good!

Thankfully the issue of only hearing it on the left side seems to have gone away on a second test, so I think my wire just wasn't plugged in all the way somewhere the first time! Whoops, haha. My bad.

Just because I've seen it suggested that it might be an SD card incompatibility issue, if it matters at all, I'm using a 128gb Sandisk SD card.

There's a separate issue for stuttering during Bluetooth playback that you may want to follow: https://codeberg.org/cool-tech-zone/tang.../issues/75

This is great, thank you!! I'll keep an eye on that issue for sure.
