SD-Card holder bent and eventually broke my card

I don't know if the tolerances on my card holder are tight, or something else is amiss, but I've always had *really* a hard time getting the holder to attach to cards.

My SanDisk Ultra is having an exceptionally bad time of it though. I took the card out today to load some new music on, and discovered it has stress cracks now.

I'm curious if anyone else has had issues with this and what they did. I don't have a 3D printer, and I'd be sad to lose my nice metal one... even if it doesn't fit all that well.

Same thing happened to me and I’m afraid of removing the card form the holder, because I fear that it might just fall apart if I tried to do that. Inserting the card into the holder was also extremely difficult for me (I had to use a significant amount of force to push it in), though the card only cracked later and not when I forced the holder onto it.

Same here. Other than gouging the plastic, the card looked OK when I finally eventually wedged the thing into the holder. It wasn't until it was in there for months (hard to know exactly when it happened, just noticed it today) until it cracked. Card still kinda works- it reads, but doesn't seem to like things written to it any more.

I'm pretty sure if I removed this card from the holder it would just fall apart.

Yeah, it's really tight for me too. Another thread about it here: https://forum.cooltech.zone/showthread.php?tid=184

I think this is something different. That thread appears to be complaints of the holder being too tight to fit into the Tangara case.

My complaint here is about the holder being too small to hold SD cards without, apparently, breaking them in half.

I had a full size SanDisk card that was a tight fit, and in the end the only way to get it in safely was to slide it from the side of the holder in rather than pushing it in from the top. Samsung cards fit perfectly with no problem, so it's not that the holder is too tight per se, it's more that there isn't a standard thickness for cards.

My SanDisk card is bowed in the holder and has one long crack down the middle but is working ok for now.
