That sounds like it could be hardware related, especially if flashing the firmware hasn't changed it. It sounds like maybe an issue with the screen, though it sounds like it was initially working ok? If you're comfortable opening the device, you could check the faceplate cable is connected correctly, and that the haptic motor hasn't come loose. It might also help to unplug the tangara from any power source, switch it into the locked position, and let it sit for 10 minutes or so to make sure it enters the low power state, and then try turning it on again.
