Problems setting up new Tangara
#1
I got a Tangara last year and am finally getting around to setting it up. When I insert the SD card I get a message saying SD card is not inserted or could not be opened.

Another post on this forum suggested that updating the firmware might fix this, so I installed the Companion app on a machine running Pop OS 24.02, connected the Tangara, and nothing showed up. After an embarrassingly long time troubleshooting, I realized it wasn't a problem with the app, but the computer itself wasn't seeing the Tangara. I tried a few different cables, and still nothing. I then tried connecting it to a Windows 11 machine. It didn't show up there, either. Both machines are successfully connecting to other devices using the same cables and USB ports, so I don't think that is the issue.

I am at a loss as to what to do next. Any advice? Thanks.

Hiya. When you're trying to connect to the computer, are you making sure to switch the Tangara on first? It won't show up if the device is off.

For the SD card troubles, try inserting the card then performing a hard-reset by holding both volume buttons and switching the lock switch off and on again. This will force it to reboot, which often solves card detection problems. If the problem persists, you may need to check that the problem isn't the SD card itself. Try formatting it first and if that doesn't work try using another card formatted FAT or exFAT.

Doing a hard reset may also help with getting the device to show up on the computer.

Please let me know if this helps or if you need more assistance :3
