Localization? - mechamegane - 2025-01-13 I'm not familiar with how string localization is handled on lua + C++ projects, but I couldn't find anything in https://codeberg.org/cool-tech-zone/tangara-fw/src/branch/main/src to PR localized strings to allow languages besides English. Have I missed something? If there isn't something in place, I would suggest long term integrating localization with Weblate which is open source, widely adopted, easy to use, and has a pro bono hosting for FOSS projects' string localization work RE: Localization? - jacqueline - 2025-01-13 Hi! Yeah, we unfortunately don't have a great setup for localisation yet. We will need to work something out pretty soon; the sort of centralisation of strings needed to do localisation properly is also quite important for accessibility. Weblate is a good tip, thank you! I'll check it out when we look into localisation more seriously. RE: Localization? - apfel - 2025-03-03 Ooh I'd love to contribute to localization! Mostly everything else is beyond my skill level ![]() RE: Localization? - river - 2025-03-04 I have a draft PR for this here https://codeberg.org/cool-tech-zone/tangara-fw/pulls/241 But I got busy with work and it has kind of stalled, if someone wants to pick it up then I'd be happy to help in any way I can RE: Localization? - Hrshl - 2025-03-28 @river, thank you for the Weblate! I was wondering about the localization since I'm bilingual French-English, but I do not have much of a level with coding. (Also, there is a typo at the 31st string, "Maxiumum volume limit", in the original English version, but I cannot modify it.) @jacqueline I do not have my Tangara yet, but I have seen that there is a User Manual included in the box. Would it be alright to make a translation of it too? Even if there is only an English version available in physical form, I think it would still be useful to be able to access online versions in other languages for those who want/need to. RE: Localization? - mechamegane - 2025-04-20 @Hrshl I'm not a cool person that's part of the cooltechzone team, but I think that would be amazing! I see no reason why the team would turn down a contribution to make it even more accessible. I'm guessing at this point if you're in batch 2 you got it by now anyways if having the physical device on hand helps any. Also for anyone wondering, translation contributions can be made here: https://translate.codeberg.org/projects/tangara--r-tae/ !! |
