[resolved?] help - tangara won't play anything now, gets stuck on loading
#1
Bug
having an issue with my tangara as of yesterday. hitting play from anywhere (selecting individual tracks, hitting shuffle, playing all of an artist, playing a specific album) all result in the playback screen reading 'Loading...' with the track numbers set to 0/0 and no audio output. if i select something else to play, it changes to 'Not Playing' and if i select something else after that it doesn't display anything at all.

i already tried a manual reset and that didn't help. i left it overnight to see if it would work itself out (this has helped with other issues in the past, shrug) but still getting the problem. i was previously running firmware v1.3.1, and was hoping updating (via companion) to v1.4.0 would fix it, but no dice. this hasn't happened before.
any suggestions?

Can you play these tracks from the file browser, or does it not work there either? Just to narrow down whether the issue is with playback itself or the database not being able to find the file it's pointed to.

Have you tried deleting the database off the card and then doing a hard reset?

Came back to update - this was resolved, but I'm not 100% sure how. I had plugged my SD card into my computer via reader to try other things, got sidetracked and ended up not touching it. Plugged it back into the Tangara the next day and it worked as normal. I had already tried ejecting the SD card and plugging it back in before this and it had made no difference, so I'm not sure what changed in between!

I did try this before it fixed itself and indeed could not play things via the file browser.

Luckily this wasn't necessary as my database is pretty massive and would have taken ages to re-add - but hello, funny seeing you here! I remember you from tokutwt Neocat_peek (i was kaixanized over there)

Huh, that's odd. Well, glad it's working now! :3 Let us know if it happens again, as it would be good to figure out what could cause that.
