If I play it from a playlist, I can go to the previous or next track in that playlist. If I play from an album, it knows about the tracks on that album. And so on. This is also how I think of playing music. If there is a screen open with a list of music, like an album, or playlist, then that brings with it a mental model with certain expectations. If I as the user select one of the songs in that list, I expect that to be the context in which it plays.
I would like to advocate for the play from here feature to be the default behavior when selecting music from a list view such as a playlist or a album.
Think of how other media work in this context. If I use a MP3 player program on my computer and pick track four of an album, it will keep playing the rest of the album from there. If I insert a cd into a cd player, and pick track two, it will continue playing to track three, and so forth.
Can anyone describe to me a situation where you would pick a track in the midst of an album and expect only that track to play?
